International Women’s Day at Close Up
March 9, 2022CLOSE UP Stands With Ukraine
As an organization that is built upon the principles of peace-building, freedom of expression, democracy, and an open society, Close Up strongly stands in support of the Ukrainian people, both in Ukraine and around the world, peace-seeking and protesting Russian communities, and all those working to bring this war to a swift end and mend the damage left in its wake.
We condemn are deeply disturbed by the cruel actions used by tyrannical politicians for their own personal survival and ego.
Last week, Cineuropa published Ukrainian filmmakers’ call not to remain silent in the face of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Today, we publish the open letter signed by over 250 film professionals and institutions from across the world in response to their call. Close Up is proud to be one of the institutional signatories on this letter, along with Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries, Baltic to Black Sea Documentary Network, FIPADOC, FIFDH Geneva, Java Films, and more.
